30 people shot in Regina, up 173% from 2015

Whether it's people being shot, guns being stolen or police finding guns during searches, the numbers are all up in Regina this year.

Regina police say virtually every type of crime involving guns wasup in the first nine months of 2016 compared to the same period last year,

Violent incidents involving guns have gone up 50 per cent so far this year compared to 2015, according to new statistics released by the police.

While last year, Regina policewere called to58gun-related acts of violence from January to September, this year it's 87.

With non-violence offences added in, the total numbers have most than doubled:from 63 in 2015 to 128 in 2016.

The report also says 30 people have been shot in the first nine months, compared to 11 over the same period in 2015 a 173 per cent increase.

Evan Bray, the city's newly appointed police chief, says he's going do what he can do turn things around.

Meanwhile, police are saying theybelieve the rise of crystal meth is a big factor in the increase in gun violence.
