2nd man charged in North Central Regina homicide

Another man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to aNorth Central area homicidethis week.

Michael Elwin Goodpipe, 33, was charged after a day-long standoff with police on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Andre Joseph Aubertin, 56, was found critically injured in a home on the 1000 block of Princess St. Aubertin was taken away by ambulance and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The next day, police were called to the 1100 block of McTavish Street, around 6:30 a.m. CST, to respondto a report of a person who wasbarricaded in a house and refused to come out.

Shortly after3 p.m., Goodpipe and a 26-year-old woman were taken into custody.

Goodpipe appeared in Regina Provincial Court Thursday afternoon.

In 2006,Goodpipe, who also goes by Elwin Michael Goodpipe, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the murder ofWayne Gerald Friday.

In connection with the Aubertin death,Jerid Cole Azure, 27, from Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask., was also charged with second-degree murder. He appeared in court on Wednesday.

Aubertin's death is the city's second homicide of the year.
