UPEI student union applauds resumed contract talks

The UPEI student union is pleased the university and faculty have resumed contract negotiations.

The UPEI student union is applauding the decision by the university and the faculty association to resume contract talks (UPEI )

The University of Prince Edward IslandStudent Union is applauding the commitment of theuniversity's board of governors and faculty association to return to negotiations.

"The decision to return to the negotiating table shows leadership and a renewed commitment on the part of both parties to reach a new collective agreement," said Nathan Hood, UPEIStudent Union president, in a press release Wednesday morning.

"The Student Union's priority has been to ensure that students do not miss a day of classes or work."

Collective agreement expires June 30

In addition to returning to negotiations, both parties agreed to drop all conciliation and legal action.

The sides have been bargaining toward a new collective agreement since February. The current agreement expires on June 30.
