Syria to Summerside committee hosts open house

The Syria to Summerside committee is hosting an open house on Wednesday to show the work that's been done to welcome a refugee family to the area.

The group of 40 to 50 volunteers has been preparing to bring a family of four to the city.

Committee member Rev. Arthur Davies said the open house is a way of thanking the community.

"The community has been involved from the beginning and it's through their efforts that we're able to present the house as it is. Without them we'd be far short," said Davies.

To date, the committee has raised over $43,000 plus secured a housing unit and furniture for the family.
