Stanley Bridge's painted roundabout covered by snow

Snowfall in the P.E.I. North Shore community of Stanley Bridge has obscured a new, painted roundabout in the community, but transportation officials say it is not a concern.

The roundabout uses bright paint to mark the direction for traffic to follow through the roundabout. But it doesn't take much snow to cover the paint, making the direction traffic is supposed to take unclear.

Some drivers are using it as a four-way stop instead.

P.E.I. transportation officials say there is a yield sign and very low traffic flow in the winter months, so the snow cover doesn't present a safety concern.

The roundabout is cleared on the same schedule as all highways.

Officials recommend either yielding or continuing to use the intersection as a roundabout when it is snow covered.
