Richard Arsenault, accused in screen cutter case, faces new charges

Richard Arsenault appeared in court in Charlottetown Thursday morning to face new burglary charges, and will remain in custody.

Arsenault, 38 of Travellers Rest, is accused in what has become known as the screen cutter burglaries in the Charlottetown area. He was arrested in the early morning hours on Tuesday and on Wednesdaycharged with 10 counts related to burglaries.

Police announced Thursday they were applying more charges.

Arsenaultnow faces 15 charges, including counts of break and enter, wearing a mask, and possession of tools suitable for break and enter.

The charges are related to 10separate break-ins at eightdifferent homes. According to court documents, one home in Stratford was robbed three times.

The court has also ordered that Arsenault should have no contact with his wife.

Arsenault returns to court Aug. 29 and again Sept. 1.
