Robert Michael Bryenton charged with aggravated assault

A 36-year-old man has been charged after an assault on Tuesday that left one man with injuries that required him to be airlifted to hospital in Halifax for treatment.

A 36-year-old man has been charged after an assault on Tuesday that left one man with injuries that required him to be airlifted to hospital in Halifax for treatment.

Robert Michael Bryenton has been charged with aggravated assault, according to Charlottetown police.

Officers were called to an apartment on Euston Street shortly after noon on Tuesday, where they found a 42-year-old man had been assaulted.

He was first taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown but was later airlifted to Halifax.

The incident set off a major investigation that lasted into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Bryenton was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

He is being held in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for Dec. 10.
