Prince Edward IslandPremier Wade MacLauchlan may be able to stay cool under pressure in the provincial legislature but when it comes to crokinole, it's a bit different.

MacLauchlan, a seasoned crokinole player, took part in P.E.I.'s provincial championship.

It only took one comment during a heated match for MacLauchlan to send his disc in the wrong direction.

"Evelyn Smith said to me, just as I was about to make a shot, 'How is crokinole like politics?' And that actually threw me, got me kind of distracted and I have to say I missed my shot," said MacLauchlan.

"Then after we finally got the game over and I had collected my wits again I explained to our opponents that there is a similarity to between crokinole and politics and there's always tomorrow."

MacLauchlan, who learned to play crokinole from his grandfather, and his team finished in the bottom third of the standings.
