'Miraculously' no injuries after truck found abandoned in ditch in eastern P.E.I.

Two youths were arrested after Kings District RCMPfound a truck crashed and abandoned in a ditch on a rural road in eastern P.E.I. early Sunday morning, according to a news release.

Two youths were arrestedafter Kings District RCMPfound a truck crashed and abandoned in a ditch on a rural road in eastern P.E.I. early Sunday morning, according to a news release.

RCMPsaid investigators discovered the truck was stolen from a residential yard in the area.

"Miraculously no significant injuries were sustained to the vehicle occupants as the vehicle sustained significant damages," said RCMP in the release.

Police saidthe youths were arrested Monday, were both released to a parent and are scheduled to appear in Youth Court "in the coming month."

They face charges of theft over $5,000 and trespassing at night.

'Everyonemake mistakes'

"We would appreciate if people take into consideration that teenagers make mistakes and we do not condone what happened but we are just happy no one was seriously injured," saidCourtney McGarry, one of the owners of the truck, in a Facebook message to CBC.

"We hope that they have learned their lesson but don't feel that people should be writing nasty things about them. Everyone makes mistakes."

McGarrysaid the truck is a writeoff and doesn't know if the cost of the damage would be covered by insurance.

She alsothanked the Morell Fire Department for its help.
