Stratford-Keppoch polling station reopened following unsubstantiated threat

Elections P.E.I. has reopened a polling stationin District 6, in Stratford P.E.I., after previously suspending voting.

Voting will be extended in district until 7:30 p.m.

Elections P.E.I. has reopened thepolling stationin District 6, in Stratford P.E.I., after previously suspending voting.

The pollfor Stratford-Keppoch, at the Assumption Parish Centre on Stratford Road,was evacuated after receiving athreat that turned out to be unsubstantiated.

All the polls for the district are located in the one building.

Elections P.E.I. said the threat was received at the polling station, and RCMP werecalled to the scene to investigate.

All ballots and election materials were secured and locked up during the evacuation, according to Elections P.E.I.

RCMP took a snifferdog through the building, and deemed it safe to reopen.

Voting hours in District 6 wereinitially extended until 9 p.m., however Elections P.E.I. later said it will be extended until 7:30 p.m.

Results from all polls Island-wide will be held until 7:30 p.m.

Police are still investigating the origin of the threat.
