Islanders are being encouraged to take part in this year's Sharing Dance Day.

Canadians from coast to coast will learn the same dance, which they'll perform in early June.

It's an initiative that was piloted last year by the National Ballet School.

Peggy Reddin, director of arts education at the Confederation Centre, says up to 50 people can take part. She said it's open to "anybody who enjoys dancing," with no experience necessary.

Open to general public

"It will be adapted depending on the level of the people who do arrive," she said.

People will have to commit to four rehearsals to learn the dance, Reddin said. The first one is Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Confederation Centre.

Dance performance June 2

The actual dance will be performed June 2 at 5 p.m., either in Memorial Hall or outside on the plaza depending on the weather.

Interested people can register by calling 902-629-1175 or by email at performingarts@confederationcentre.com.
