Some parents delivering children to school on P.E.I. Thursday morning were feeling a cautious confidence following an evacuation of all Island schools Wednesday.

"I'm fine. I think if you give in to the fear then they're just going to be worse off," said Amanda Dunn at Stonepark School in Charlottetown.

"I trust the school officials."

Schools were shut down Wednesday after RCMP in Ottawa were faxed a bomb threat. RCMP later deemed the threat not credible.

Some parents posting on social media said they would not be sending their children back to school.

A hurried exit

There was a delay getting school started at Stonepark.

Students were brought back into the building in an orderly fashion in order to allow them to close up lockers and pick up house keys and cell phones left behind after a rushed departure Wednesday.

At nearby Sherwood School, parent Leanne Hebert also expressed concern, but confidence in the teachers and the school system.

"It was very stressful, very emotional, because you didn't know what was going to happen," said Hebert.

"The teachers at Sherwood School were really organized they seemed to have it all together I totally feel confident in the teachers and in the school system."

Hebert said the level of organization of the evacuation and the return to school was particularly impressive given that it was so early in the school year, but teachers had all the information they needed about where the kids were supposed to be going.
