P.E.I.'s Opposition Progressive Conservatives want to hear more from the public about their experiences with the Island's mental health system.

Opposition health critic James Aylward said he's sent a letter to the chair of the standing committee on health and wellness, asking to meet immediately to discuss the issue.

Aylward wants to hear as many voices as possible on the issue.

"Not just people that are feeling that they're being failed by the system," he said.

"We'd also like to hear from healthcare professionals and anyone else that would like to speak out or speak up and tell us what they feel we're lacking or missing right now."

Aylward said the province needs every voice possible speaking up on the state of mental health services in the province.
