Power back on for most of P.E.I.

Power has been restored for all but a few Maritime Electric customersafter a fallen tree caused an outage Thursday afternoon.

Maritime Electric's site was showing only 28 customers still without power as of 3 p.m.

More than 13,000 customers had been without electricity at the height of the outage.

The outages ran along the North Shore starting at Dalvay and all the way to East Point, wrapping around the eastern end of the Island to Belfast.

Maritime Electric tweeted at about 1 p.m. that there was a tree on a line and crews were out to make repairs.

Winds were strong on P.E.I. most of Thursday, with gusts in Charlottetown as high as 55 km/h.

Some customers reported the power went out around noon.

Confederation Bridge has a wind advisory in effect, saying traffic restrictions are possible up until 8 p.m.

P.E.I. National Park is reporting dangerous surf conditions.
