East Prince RCMP Cpl. Nick Doyle and Summerside Police Cpl. Jennifer Driscoll have been named P.E.I.'s police officers of the year for 2019.

The awards are presented each year to officers who have gone above and beyond their regular duties, says Scott Lundrigan, provincial co-ordinator for Crime Stoppers P.E.I.

Nominated by peers

Doyle and Driscoll were nominated by their peers, members of the public and community organizations.

Doyle joined the RCMP in 2008, and is part of the Prince District Joint Forces Operations. Lundrigan said he is very knowledgeable about investigations, particularly involving drug crimes.

"He's a really good mentor to the people who work around him."

Driscoll graduated from Atlantic Police Academy in 1998 and joined the Summerside Police Service. She currently works in the Major Crime Unit.

Lundrigan said Driscoll is not only a "well-seasoned investigator" but has also been the driving force behind several community programs in the Summerside area includingKids Shop with Cops and the vulnerable persons registry.
