Sailings of the MV Confederation between Nova Scotia and P.E.I. stopped at 8 a.m. Thursday, and it is not clear when they will resume.

Northumberland Ferries is reporting an electrical problem on the ship. Sailings are cancelled until further notice.

The Confederation also missed a sailing due to an electrical problem on Tuesday.

The Confederation is the only ship making the crossing this season. The MV Holiday Island has been in dry dock all summer.

That has meant a busy summer for the ship, which has been making extra overnight crossings in an effort to keep traffic flowing.
