Brookvale Nordic ski trails open this weekend

Lots of fresh snow on P.E.I. means cross-country skiiers can take to the trails at Brookvale Provincial Ski Park this weekend.

"Well it's definitely the fact that the snow came and it stuck around. We're pretty excited to see that even with a little bit of mild weather here and there, the snow is sticking around,"said Erin Curley, the park's assistant superintendent.

More snow needed

"We're hoping to have more than two trails, but as of right now, we're getting the Hardwood and Plantation trails ready."

However, the alpine runs remain closed. Curley explained that more snow is needed. She is hopeful the runs can be open before Christmas.

Curley is also hopeful the park is busy this weekend.

"I think the new snow we got this week is certainly going to bring a few more people out,"she said.
