Motorcycle crash puts West Prince woman in Halifax hospital

A 60-year-old West Prince woman remains in Halifax hospital after the motorcycle she was driving was involved in a collision on Highway 14 near Skinners Pond, RCMP say.

West Prince RCMP got a 911 call about the crash around 5:20 P.M. Saturday.

"Motorcycle ended up in the ditch after the collision and the driver was ejected from the bike," said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Scott Stevenson.

The woman was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle, which collided with a Ford Mustang.

"The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Prince County Hospital and then further airlifted to Halifax for surgery relating to the injuries," Stevenson added.

The 16-year-old male driver of the Mustang, also from the West Prince area, has been charged under P.E.I.'s Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe left-hand turn.

The woman remains in hospital recovering from surgery,said Stevenson.
