Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits P.E.I.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau landed at the Charlottetown Airport Tuesday afternoon for a short visit to Prince Edward Island.

Trudeau met Islanders at Old Home Week and served ice cream at Cows Creamery

Prime Minister Justin Trudeaumet Islanders andserved ice cream during ashort visit to P.E.I.on Tuesday afternoon.

"Always good to be back in Prince Edward Island," Trudeausaid after meeting with P.E.I. Premier Wade MacLauchlan at the Charlottetown Airport.

Earlier in the day, Trudeauwas in Bridgetown, N.S., to announce $116 million in federal funding for projects related to water and transit. He told a crowd in Bridgetown that the federal government was committed to theP.E.I.-N.S. ferry service.

In Charlottetown, Trudeau didn't make a funding announcement.

Instead, he visited some of the city's popular attractions, includingCows Creamery, where he served ice cream to a long line of peopleand posed for photos.

Trudeau also visitedOld Home Week and theRed Shores racetrack.

On this day in 2000, Prime Minister Jean Chrtienwas visiting the Island andtouring Old Home Week in Charlottetown when a 23-year-old man hit him in the face with a pie.
