RCMP in eastern P.E.I. arrested a man for allegedly driving while impaired after his vehicle was reported in a farmer's field.

The incident occurred Saturday at about 9:40 p.m. Kings District RCMP said they found the vehicle deep in the field off the end of Route 332 at the intersection of the Eglington Road, near Bay Fortune. The vehicle had substantial damage but there was no sign of the driver.

The local fire department was also on the scene. An RCMP police dog was called in and the driver, who RCMP say had been the only occupant of the vehicle, was located a short distance away, still in the field.

He had suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Island EMS and released to police custody.

The driver, a 42-year-old man from Fortune Bridge was taken to Montague. RMCP say breathalyzer tests there indicated he was driving with blood alcohol content that exceeded the legal limit.

The man was released Sunday morning and faces impaired driving related charges.
