Fire in Dunstaffnage, P.E.I., damages home, diverts traffic for several hours

Drivers on P.E.I. were asked to avoid Route 2 in Dunstaffnage because of a house fire on Sunset Lane.

No one was at home at the time of the fire

Traffic was diverted for several hours away from Route 2 in Dunstaffnageon Thursday because of a house fire on Sunset Lane.

The police say anRCMPofficer on patrol discovered the fire.RCMPconfirm no one was in the home at the time of the fire. OneRCMPofficer was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Instead of Route 2, theRCMPaskeddrivers to turn onto Route 6 at Bedford Station and travel on Route 229 (MillcoveRoad) and Route 222 (Suffolk Road) in order to reconnect with Route 2.

By 7:45 p.m., the road was reopened to traffic.
