Downtown Charlottetown launches gift dollars to encourage local shopping

A new program launched by Downtown Charlottetown Inc. is offering shoppers an opportunity to buy gift dollars that can be used at more than 100 stores.

Downtown Charlottetown Dollars are like gift certificates that can be used at downtown shops, restaurants, service providers and even hotels.

"These are dollars that can be spent almost anywhere in the downtown core and can be redeemed on everything from coffee, lunch, shoes to clothing to jewelry to an appointment at your local salon," said Downtown Charlottetown executive director Dawn Alan in a news release.

There are no restrictions on how the dollars are spent. Participating stores receive the full value of the Downtown Dollars when they redeem them with Downtown Charlottetown.

The dollars are available for purchase at the Downtown Charlottetown office in the National Bank Tower.
