Aboriginal leaders meeting to talk business

Indigenous leaders on P.E.I. are hoping is to establish a new business network on the Island.

Mi'kmaq Confederacy, along with Abegweit and Lennox Island First Nations, are planning their first aboriginal business mixer next Wednesday.

"We have developed a survey for the first event to gauge the key interests are and that will help us moving forward for future events," said Jenene Wooldridge, Abegweit's director of operations.

'Safe and supportive place'

"We just wanted to provide a safe and supportive place for aboriginal business people to gather."

New aboriginal businesses have opened up in the last while, Wooldridge said, and the group also plans to keep track of those business.

The business mixer will be held at Kettle Black in Charlottetown on Nov. 16 from 4:30 to 7 pm. No registration is necessary.
