Murderer denied parole

Doug Beamish, a P.E.I. man serving a life sentence for killing his ex-wife in the 1990s, has been denied parole.

Doug Beamish, a P.E.I. man serving a life sentence for killing his ex-wife in the 1990s, has been denied parole.

Beamish was convicted in 1996 of the second-degree murder of Shirley Ann Duguay. Her body was found in a shallow grave in the woods, a year after she disappeared from her home on Oct. 3, 1994.

The 56-year-old Prince County man appeared before the Parole Board of Canada to be considered for full or day parole, but was denied both. The parole board found Beamish's conduct in prison as demanding and confrontational and his case management team there doesn't think he should be released.

He'll continue to serve his sentence in an Ontario prison.
