A house fire Tuesday evening near Mount Stewart is considered suspicious, in part because it's one of several recent area fires, say Kings District RCMP.

Police received a call just after 4 p.m. that a three-bedroom summer home was on fire.

No one was home at the time.

Firefighters were unable to save the building, which burned to the ground by the end of the evening.

"We're sort of putting this together with some of the several other fires that we've had in the Green Meadows and Bangor area since May 30th," said Cpl. Robert Holland.

"We're looking at these all collectively as to see the possible links between them. And all of those investigations are currently underway."

Holland says the provincial fire marshal and RCMP fire investigatorswere on the scene Wednesday to continue the investigation.
