Provincial government offices on P.E.I. outside of Charlottetown and West Prince are closed Friday in the wake of a winter storm.

Although snow is no longer falling on most of P.E.I., winds remain high, making blowing snow and whiteouts a factor.

Environment Canada is reporting winds of 41 km/hr with gusts up to 68 km/hr.

However, University of Prince Edward Island andHolland College centres, except Alberton, are closed for the day.

Many businessesare operating on delays.

CBC meteorologist Peter Coade says temperatures will be cold, falling slowly to -16 C with a cold wind chill near - 26.

Temperatures will be colder than normal into early next week, says Coade, adding, "There are indications of more snow by Tuesday or Wednesday."
