Donald Trump spoof featured in rural festival's parade

The U.S. election campaign intruded upon a rural festival in the tiny community of Kinkora, P.E.I. this week.

For 37 years Kinkora, population 339, has hosted the Kinkora Somerset Festival, drawing in people from surrounding communities for tractor pulls, bike rodeos, barbecues, and a parade.

Every year, Duffy Construction pulls an item from the headlines for the theme of the company float in the parade, and this year Donald Trump leaped out as the obvious subject.

The 16-metre float featured The Donald in the middle, a concrete wall on each side of him, a crowd of Mexicans behind one wall and a crowd of Canadians behind the other.

"Donald Trump was in the middle, talking throughout the parade," said Robert Duffy.

"Boasting a little too much probably."

Robert Duffy himself played Trump on the float.

"It just laid out how ridiculous it really is," said Duffy.

"Years ago we tore down borders, and here we are, we're putting them back again. For living in a country like Canada, it's not something you want to be a part of."

Duffy said there was a lot of applause for this year's float.
