Barney Fullerton is not offering again, however, he's encouraging more residents to give serious consideration to getting into municipal politics.

There are at least three people who have said they are running for mayor, but Fullerton is concerned about the lack of candidates who have announced they want to run as town councillors.

"We don't have enough people that have put their name forward for council yet," said Fullerton.

"Time is getting short. The way things are shaping up now withthe candidates that have come forward to say they're running, right now they would all get in by acclamation. And that doesn't give the people much of a choice."

Fullerton noted Cornwall is a town with a very young population and so it would be good to see a council with people of all ages represented. On average, he said, the time commitment would be no more than 10 hours a week.

Municipal elections will be held across P.E.I. on Nov. 3.Elections P.E.I. officials saidtheir office has not been dealing with many nomination papers at this point, but added that it's not unusual to have a flurry of nominations come in just before the deadline.

The deadline is Friday, Oct. 10at 2 p.m.
