Conor Shea's hockey team set to honour him with moment of silence

Conor Shea the 14-year-old boy who died in in a snowmobile crash last Sunday will be honoured by his hockey team in Tignish Friday night.

It will be the Tignish Bantam AA Aces' first game since Shea died.

A moment of silence will be held before the puck is dropped at 7:20 p.m. at theTignish arena.

Proceeds from a 50/50 draw will support the Shea family's goal to buy jerseys for the Tignish minor hockey league in their son's memory.

Hockey PEI is also honouring Shea with a special memorial helmet decal that is available by donation to the jersey fund.

Shea was pronounced dead at the scene after the snowmobile he was driving collided with a car in Pleasant View around 3 p.m. on Jan. 17.

His funeral was held Thursday in Palmer Road.

RCMP said they don't expect to lay charges in the incident, calling it "an unfortunate event."
