Celebrities paint for kidney research

A celebrity art auction to raise money for The Kidney Foundation of Canada is being held this week on P.E.I.

A celebrity art auction to raise money for The KidneyFoundation of Canada is being held this week on P.E.I.

Islanders can bid on art by 130 celebrities including a painting by Summerside Olympian Heather Moyse.

The original works are on display at the County Fair Mall in Summerside Thursday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Currently, Chef Michael Smith's "Think Global, Eat Local" painting has the second highest bid at almost $500.

Kevin "Boomer" Gallant also submitted for the second year in a row.

Country singer Paul Brandt, as well as Stephen Sabados, one of thehosts of CBCs Stephen & Chris, have art on display.

It's the sixth time the Kidney Foundation of Canada has held their "Brush of Hope" fundraiseran idea started by the former head of the New Brunswick and P.E.I. chapter.

The art can be seenFriday at the Charlottetown Mall from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The money raised will go to kidney research.

Online bids continue on eBay until the end of day Sunday.
