The money supports the AlzheimerSociety's research programs lookinginto the cause and cure for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Nicole Blanchard and her son Jeremieraised $305 for the cause and were walking for Blanchard's parents.

"It's certainly a difficult disease and it certainly affects the whole family," she said.

With P.E.I.'s aging population, the number of Islanders with dementia is growing.
