Charlottetown aggravated assault incident leads to charges against 2nd man

A second man has been charged in connection with an aggravated assault last Tuesday that resulted in a man being airlifted to hospital in Halifax with serious injuries.

Charlottetown Police say they have now also arrested and charged 22-year-old Jeremy Cummiskey. He has been charged with aggravated assault, damage to property, and breach of a probation order.

The damage to property charge stems from an incident at the police station, said deputy chief Gary McGuigan. Asurveillance camera was pulled off the wall and a two-way glass window in an interview room was smashed, he said.

"At this point we believe that these two individuals were involved in the assault," said McGuigan.

"The investigation is ongoing and not complete yet."

Last week police arrested and charged 36-year-old Robert Michael Bryenton with aggravated assault in connection with the same assault on Euston Street. He will appear in court on Dec. 10.

McGuigan saidCummiskeywillremainin custody until his next court appearance on Dec.3.

The 42-year-old man who was assaulted remains in hospital in Halifax.
