Wooing voters in West Carleton-March

Two candidates are hoping to give incumbent Eli El-Chantiry a run for his money in the rural west Ottawa ward of West Carleton-March.

El-Chantirywas first elected to city council in November 2003, and won handily in 2014 with about 57 per cent of the vote.

The two candidates who have stepped up to run against him this time around are:

• James Parsons, who also ran against El-Chantiryin 2010 and 2014.
• Judi Varga-Toth

Candidates who did not provide a website when they registered do not have links to their campaigns.

This ward isamong those withthe fewest residentsin Ottawabut it covers thelargest area (more than 760 kilometres square) andtherefore contends with a number of different issues, including roadquality, access to city services and maintaining a rural lifestyle within city limits.
