Boy charged after snowmobile collides with tractor trailer

A 14-year-old boy has been charged after the snowmobile he was driving hit a tractor trailer in Laurentian Valley Township last week.

14-year-old suffered serious injuries colliding with tractor trailer last Thursday

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP havecharged a 14-year-old boy with disobeying a signafter the snowmobile he was driving hit a tractor trailer southeast of Pembroke, Ont.,last week.

The boy, from Laurentian Valley Township,was driving northon a trail registered with theOntario Federation of SnowmobileClubsat about 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, OPP said in a media release.

He drove througha stop sign where the trail intersectsFibreboardDrive and hit the tractor trailer, which was travelling east, police said.

Hewas taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 27-year-old driver of the tractor trailer, from Mansfield, Que.,was not injured.

Fibreboard Drive was closed for several hours whilethe OPP'straffic collision team investigated.

The boy'sname is not being released due tothe provisions of the Provincial Offences Act.
