Man drowns in Lachaine Lake after boating incident, police say

A man drowned in a small lake north of Gatineau after an incident involving a boat on Friday evening, western Quebec police say.

A man drowned in a small lake north of Gatineau after an incident involving a boat on Friday evening, western Quebec police say.

It happened at Lachaine Lake in Val-des-Monts, Que., according to MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais.

Pierre Landry, 53, was last seen by a relative at the home they shared on Friday.

His body was then found in the lakenear a dockat about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

Investigators believe there was an incident with a small boat, and that Landry drowned Friday evening. He was not wearing a life jacket, but his family described him as a strong swimmer.

No foul play is suspected. A coroner's investigation is underway.
