PC Jeremy Roberts wins tight contest in Ottawa WestNepean

Progressive Conservative Jeremy Roberts has narrowly defeated New Democrat Chandra Pasma in Ottawa-West Nepean.

Liberal incumbent Bob Chiarelli finishes 3rd

  • Final Elections Ontario results show Jeremey Roberts finished 175 votes ahead of Chandra Pasma.

Progressive Conservative Jeremy Robertshas narrowly defeatedNew DemocratChandraPasmain Ottawa-WestNepean.

With all 80 polls counted, just 176 votes separatedRoberts from Pasma.

Pasmaheld a narrow lead for much of the night until the last two polls flipped the standings.

Liberal incumbentBobChiarellifinished third.

The riding has been Liberal sinceDaltonMcGuintyfirst became premier in2003.Chiarelli, who won the seat in a 2010byelectionafter current Mayor Jim Watson left provincial politics, has been serving asOntario's minister of transportation.

PC Jeremy Roberts won a nail-biting vote in Ottawa-West-Nepean

The somewhatoddly-shaped ridingincludesnot only a large swath of urban residents, but also the old west end near the Crystal Bay area.

The latest census suggests people inOttawa WestNepeanare older than in other eastern Ontario ridingswith a higher percentage of visible minorities. The top industries for work are public administration, retail tradeand health care.

  • Colin Pritchard is running as a None of the Above Direct Democracy candidate.
