Ottawa man charged in fatal bike crash

Police have charged a 25-year-old Ottawa man with dangerous driving causing death aftera fatal bicycle crash earlier this week.

Police have charged an Ottawa man with dangerous driving causing death aftera fatal bicycle crash earlier this week.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 24, a woman was riding her bike when she was struck by a vehicle, the Ottawa Police Service said in a Saturday afternoon news release.

The woman went to the hospital, police said,where she died two days later. She was identified by police Saturday as 33-year-old Chanel Charette.

Tony Bera, 25,is expected to appear in court Sunday, police said.

Anyone with information about the fatal crash is encouraged to contact the force's homicide unit.

Police did not say where the crash took place.
