The book, launched Thursday night at the Canadian War Museum, details his struggle withdepression and how he overcame an addiction toOxycontinfollowing the war.

The village was supposedly rife with Taliban soldiers and Jody's assignment was to flush them out. But that village was also littered with landmines. Jody took a step that changed his life forever.

Miticand three other snipers were infiltrating an Afghan village to flush outTalibansoldiers when he stepped on alandminein January 2007.

Less than eight years later, Miticwas elected to his first term as councillor for Ottawa's Innesward in October 2014.
