Shakeup at Ottawa city hall ahead of summer break

City council approved changes to snow clearing and toPara Transpo eligibility Wednesday at its final meeting before a summer break.

A report from the integrity commissioner on the city's controversial partnership with a TV series to build a playground at Mooney's Bay, meanwhile, was received without a word of debate.

One of the few agenda items that saw somedebate was thepartial demolition of Somerset House, which was approved.

New city manager Steve Kanellakos also revealed how he wants to restructure the various city departments. The changes will cost taxpayers $1.29 million in severance payments, but are expected to save $2.7 million over the rest of this term of council.
