Artemis is competing for best in breed the same award that her father won at the show in 2012 and could go on to compete for best in show.

"She's got a bit of a quirky personality, and what I like to call 'the wiggle bum,' this special little move that she does that some of the judges really like," her owner Rebecca Menard told CBC News.

"Instead of just the tail ticking back and forth, the whole bottom gets in on the action," Menard said. "It's really cute."

Artemis, who is nearly three years old, is "primarily" a pet but sometimes competes in shows, Menard said.

More than 3,000 dogs of nearly 200 differentbreeds and varieties are competing in the Westministershow in New York City, which is in its 140th year.

"No matter what she does, I'll be proud of her. I'm just excited that she gets to go," Menard said.
