Pedestrian struck by LRT replacement bus dies

Apedestrian died after being struck by anOC Transpo bus on St. Laurent Boulevard south of Highway 417, Ottawa police say.

Apedestrian died after being struck by anOC Transpo bus on St. Laurent Boulevard south of Highway 417, Ottawa police say.

Awoman, 26, succumbed toinjuries suffered in the collision, police saidin a Thursday afternoonnews release.

In an email, the city confirmed the bus that struck the woman was an R1 shuttle bus, one of the buses broughtinto service along theConfederation Line because theLRT isout of commission.

Officerswere called to theintersection ofSt. Laurent Boulevardand TremblayRoadaround 11 a.m. Thursday, police said.

The Ottawa Police Service is asking anyone who sawormay have footage of the incident to come forward.

Theramp from the eastbound 417 to St. Laurent Boulevard and a stretch of St. Laurent itself were closed as officers investigated.

That closure was liftedThursday afternoon.

The scene is about six kilometres east of the city core and just south of St-Laurent station on the temporarily closed Confederation Line.
