Metcalfe crash kills man, injures mother and child

A man is dead after his Honda Civic collided with a Dodge Caravan in a serious crashin Metcalfe, south of Ottawa.

The crash happened before 4 p.m. Sunday on 8th Line Road south of Parkway Road.

Firefighters extricated the mother, who was driving the Dodge, by removing the dash and driver's side door. They also removedthe child fromthe van, who was not trapped.

Firefighters began to extricate the driver of the Honda but once paramedics were able to assess the man, he was declared dead on scene.

The mother and child weretaken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
