7 deaths on undivided stretch of Highway 50 east of Gatineau since 2013

A west Quebec mayor is calling on the province to expand Highway 50 after a number of fatal crashes east of Gatineau in recent years.

A west Quebec mayor is calling on the province to expand Highway 50 after six crashes that killed seven people east of Gatineau in recent years:

Highway 50 is undividedwith one lane in each directionfrom around Masson-Angers to northwest of Montreal, near its end.

L'Ange-Gardien Mayor Robert Goulet said in Novemberthere are too many accidents on that part of the highway and that the region deserves better.

Goulet said hecan't do much except lobby the provincial government to expand that part of thehighway, which was finished in November 2012.
