Man arrested in death of Elisabeth Salm

Ottawa police say they've arrested a man in connection with the killingof a 59-year-old woman last week inside a reading room operated by the First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Elisabeth Salm was the victim of a vicious Thursday afternoon assault inside the reading room at 141C LaurierAve. W, where she worked most days.

She died in hospital Friday.

On Sunday afternoon police saidthey had taken a man into custody and that he was expected to appear in court on Monday.

His name has not been released. Investigators say the man was previously known to them, and that he is expected to be charged with first-degree murder.
