Who wants in in Innes?

Innes is one of the few wards that's up for grabs with no incumbent in the race.

In March, Jody Mitic announcedhe willnot seek re-electionin order to focus on his family and personal health. In June, a formal leave of absence was approved, and three other councillors took over his files.

Miticwas elected in 2014 with 33 per cent of the vote.

Now there are four candidates vying for hisseat, including one of his former staffers:

• Laura Dudas, who came in second in 2014 with 19 per cent of the vote.
• Donna Leith-Gudbranson
• Tammy Lynch
• Franois Trpanier, who came in third in 2014 with 16 per cent of the vote.

Candidates who did not provide a website when they registered do not have links to their campaigns.

Innesward shares many issues with neighbouring Orlans, suchas the struggle to lurejobs to the area. Light rail is scheduled to open at Blair station in 2018 and all the way outto Trim Road by 2022. Innesward falls to the south of that rail line, so candidates are interested in how buses will tie into the newstations. They also have their eye on extending Brian Coburn Boulevard.
