Highway 417 closure postponed until further notice

Thepartial closureof Highway 417 for the replacement of the Percy Street bridge that was set for this weekend has been postponed, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) confirmed Thursday.

The ministrydid not provide a reason for the postponement.

"Rapid Bridge replacements are complex [undertakings], the MTOand its contractor are working to make sure the project is completed as soon as possible," an email from the ministrysaid.

New dates for thework have not been set.

The work was set to close eastbound lanes between Carling Avenue/KirkwoodAvenue and MetcalfeStreet and westbound lanes between Metcalfe Street/Catherine Street and Bronson Avenue between 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, and 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14.

This follows two similar bridge replacements last month.
