Ottawa's Golden Palace egg rolls make debut at Montreal's Bell Centre

Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens fans don't really like each other, but they may now be able to find some common ground in their arena concession stands.

Last weekend, Golden Palace egg rolls started selling for $7 an order at Montreal's Bell Centre, four years after the well-known Ottawa restaurant's signature dish came to the Canadian Tire Centre.

On game days, Golden Palace owner Bill Kwong makes the egg rolls in Ottawa and drives them to Montreal himself.

"Hands-on management, you bet," he said Monday.

Kwong said he's a hockey fan and spent years trying to reach a deal with the Bell Centre, saying working with the Canadiens is "priceless."

He said Senators fans ate around 70,000 egg rolls during the first season they were offered at their arena and he's hoping to sell around that much at Canadiensgames.

This is the first true expansion of Golden Palace since Kwong's uncles founded the restaurant in 1960.
