Former La Pche mayor Robert Bussire replaces Stphanie Valle in Gatineau

Former La Pche mayor Robert Bussire with the CAQ will represent Gatineau in Quebec City.

CAQ takes riding from Liberals

Former LaPchemayor RobertBussireof theCoalitionAvenirQubec will represent Gatineau in Quebec City.

Bussirehad 41.8 per cent of the vote. His nearest challenger, Liberal Luce Farrell, had 30.6 per cent of the vote.

Seven candidates were running in the riding, which includes part of northern Gatineau and areas north of it, including Chelsea, La Pche, Val-des-Monts and Maniwaki.

The riding hadno incumbent, with LiberalStphanie Valle deciding not to run again.

Bussirefaced Farrell, who was Valle's former assistant, and was also challenged byUQOstudent federation executive Jonathan Carreiro-Benoitof theParti Qubcois, and international relations researcherMilan Bernard of Qubec Solidaire.

The riding had voted Liberal in every election since 1962.
