The two women killed in a head-on crash on Highway 50 east of Gatineau on Saturday have been identified as 21-year-old lisabeth Brosda and 26-year-old Elsa Loiseau, both of Gatineau.

Mlissa Loiseau told Radio-Canada on Sunday that the loss of her twin sister a University of Ottawa graduatewho was recently accepted into the Kinesiology program at Laval University has left a great void.

"She was the most positive person I knew. She touched so many people. She was, simply, a wonderful person," she said in French.

Loiseau was traveling westbound on Highway 50 near Grenville, Que., when she veered into oncoming traffic, crashing into an eastbound vehicle, according to the Sret du Qubec.

Loiseau and Brosda who was driving the eastbound vehicle died of their injuries. A 20-year-old man, who was a passenger in the vehicle with Brosda, was taken to hospital but has since been released.

Brosda, known for her love of horses, was on her way to an equestrian competition at the time of the crash, according to a recentFacebook post.

Police, with the help of the coroner, are investigating whether fatigue or distraction played a role in the crash.
