Cyclist collides with OC Transpo bus

Ottawa Police closed off Bank Street Tuesday night after a man riding a bicycle down the wrong way of a one-way street collided with an OC Transpo bus.

Ottawa Police closed off Bank Street Tuesday night after a man riding a bicycle down the wrong way of a one-way street collided with an OC Transpo bus.

Police said the collision happened at the intersection of Bank and Catherine Street just after 7 p.m.

Paramedics called to the scene said they found a 38-year-old man under the front bumper of the bus in the southbound lane on Bank Street.

The man was taken to the Civic Campus of Ottawa Hospital in stable condition with lacerations on his forehead.

Ottawa police spokesman Sgt. Claude Mallet said the cyclist wasn't wearing a helmet at the time and was travelling eastbound on Catherine, which allows only westbound traffic.

The incident is still under investigation, said Mallet.
